Never has the pressure to over-build in urban areas been greater. The Trust stands as a bastion to prevent inappropriate development and the wanton destruction of historic buildings.
We are proud of our town which we think is a very special place. Whilst accepting that change has to happen we are determined to ensure that only the best is good enough for Devizes. Our Committee works tirelessly to monitor planning applications, suggest alternatives and to put up well-founded arguments against undesirable applications.
We also get involved in ‘quality of life issues’ such as the preservation of Quakers Walk and the need to limit development to what traffic levels the town can absorb.
The more members we have, the more influence we have. If you are interested in keeping Devizes as a pleasant place to live, you have a vested interest in the work of the Trust.
Membership
The cost of membership is just £8 per year for a household - that is all the people living in that household. We are sure you will agree that at today’s prices this is a considerable bargain.
As a member you will receive our quarterly newsletter, which not only informs about today’s issues but also carries interesting articles on the history of Devizes and its people. You will also receive invitations to our quarterly social events, giving you an opportunity to meet like-minded people and to enjoy talks on a wide-range of subjects.
