The Trust considers every planning issue which might affect Devizes and objects or comments where necessary.
Planning issues are key to the growth and development of Devizes and each month, the Trust examines planning applications related to Devizes and formally communicates its opinions to Wiltshire Council. The Trust aims to bring pressure to bear on inappropriate developments.
We prioritise the landscape and ecological setting of the town, the conservation of historic fabric, and the design and quality of new developments. We have raised concerns about specific issues like affordable housing provision, density, parking, and the impact on conservation areas.
Past issues which we have commented on are the development at Coate Road, both the developments on the former Wadworth Brewery site and the development at the fomer hospital on New Park Road.
