Devizes has a fine history, much of which is encapsulated in many of our historic buildings; it was a major centre for trade and has been the main market in the area for almost 900 years. Many interesting people lived here, archaeologists, inventors, admirals and writers, to name just a few.
The Trust is a collection of over 300 people who are proud of our past and concerned to retain the character of a fine historic Market Town and the benefits of living in it. We do not wish to stop progress or live in a time-warp, but we do recognise that change has to be carefully and sensitively managed if our heritage is to be preserved.
We are proud of our town and want visitors to enjoy it as we do. If you are coming to Devizes as a visitor take a look at our Town Trail. We are sure you will find it fascinating.
The Trust is active in defending the heritage of our town and the quality of life for those who are fortunate enough to live here.
