A Piece of Non-Conformist History about to disappear

Now it is due to be sold without specifying its future use.

Whilst we cannot expect chapels with very small congregations to be kept open indefinitely, the threat of a sale could mean that the splendid history of this chapel's foundation and early witness is lost to future generations.

Those interested in its history will find the article on the early dissenters of interest.

The non-conformist churches in Devizes, without exception, owe their origins to the witness established at Avebury. That should surely merit some sort of memorial, whatever the fate of the building itself.
