Government consult on Parking Practice

Posted by Nobody on 31 March 2015

..  has been strengthened considerably by the Department for Communities and Local Government, which has just taken over responsibility for car parks from the Department for Transport.

The Secretary of State's views on parking are well publicised and we can expect to see some action against what many of us see as excesive penalties for overstaying.  What is particularly significant is that the DCLG has just published its first consultation and one of the questions relates to taking away the option of a cash payment.

Responses are due in May and the Trust will make a response after all the Trustees have had a chance to discuss what this should be.  In the meantime we have again written to the Area Board suggesting that it would be wise for the Council to "stay its hand" until the outcome of this consultation is known.

Individuals are free to respond to the consultation which can be found here
