There seem to be rumours that the walls will be repainted. This is not the case. See extracts below from the Specification document attached to the planning application.
"The aim behind the proposal is to improve the frontage of this heritage asset. Currently the masonry is decorated with cream coloured non-breathable plastic paint (black paint on the plinth), which is causing the stone and brick to spall. The spalling stone and brick is visible from a distance detracting from the aesthetic of this heritage asset, and is a detriment to the masonry solid structure.
The intention to remove the paint is required to prevent damage to the wall by its current inability to breathe. The decision to not redecorate the wall is intended to improve the overall aesthetic of the Hotel. The current paint is peeling and spoils the overall aesthetic of the building, by not redecorating the masonry it
removes the need of redecorations in future and ensures a cleaner aesthetic look to this historic building frontage."
